Technical Animator (Tools)

Responsibilities:

  • Work as a Technical Animator (Tools) supporting the Art team across the Animation, Cinematics, and Character disciplines focusing on pipelines in DCC and through into engine.
  • Create and maintain efficient tools and workflows for asset and feature implementation, providing novel solutions to a wide variety of artistic, technical and support challenges, working closely with fellow Technical Artists.
  • Cross-discipline collaboration with Art, Engineering & remote teams to deliver work to Art & Technical Direction quality expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience creating and supporting Art tools and workflows in a AAA games environment or similar.
  • Excellent understanding of animation, cinematics and/or character pipelines, and content creation principles.
  • Proficient in Python scripting following best coding practises, other languages (e.g. C++) are useful.
  • Working knowledge of Maya and/or MotionBuilder, including scripting api’s.
  • Understanding of game asset/technical budgets and how these affect games performance.
  • Working knowledge of asset/feature implementation in a game engine (Frostbite, Unreal, Unity, etc)
  • Creation and maintenance of technical and user focused documentation
